Chalking Up Joy
There’s no better time to show our love, compassion and unity as humans than now, during a pandemic. Totran Radke represented the Torrance community by sharing a quote in an article about “chalking” or creating chalk art on sidewalks.
Totran is a member of a community parenting group and one day she saw a post from a member that a journalist was covering a story about chalking and had many photos from Orange County residents but didn’t have many from the South Bay community. Since Totran had recently chalked with her kids on the prior day, she already had pictures on hand. Totran emailed a few photos and a short quote over and the reporter responded right away and was thrilled about the content provided.
Totran’s kids’ colorful chalk art were featured along with other children from all over Southern California. Totran was quoted saying: “It’s a tough time for kids stuck at home right now. The art and decor we are adding brings joy and makes people feel loved.” Totran was glad they were able to contribute to this article as this pandemic is something we will always remember as part of our world history.
